Star Wars Ad Infinitum

This week Disney annouced its plans for the Star Wars Franchise for the next decade and a half. Commenting on this, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that Carrie Fisher’s role will not be altered but will remain as it completed for Episode VIII. He further affirmed that she will not be digitally brought back to life for Episode IX.

Already plans are being drawn up for the final film of the Skywalker saga, Episode IX. Disney plans to keep the franchise going even without a focus on the original characters from the classic and prequel trilogies. As of yet, we can only guess what that will look like.

Next up for the Star Wars franchise is The Last Jedi opening this December. Next year the Han Solo stand alone will arrive. Some controversy arose when it was announced this week that the film will reveal Han Solo’s real name.

What we do know for sure is that through the 2030’s we’ll have many Star Wars films to look forward too. Let’s hope Disney doesn’t burn the storied franchise out.
