Top 5 Video Game Soundtracks

There is no denying the power of a soundtrack whether it is in a movie, TV show, or video game. A great one can make a good game into a great one, not to mention the staying power of those soundtracks. This post will share my favorite video game soundtracks, this is purely just my opinion and I know there will be a lot of games that I do not include on this list.
1. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
This video game has one of the most memorable sound tracks ever made for a video game. I doubt you could find a single person that has played this game that does not remember at least one of the songs you learned on the ocarina. The power of the ear worm is strong with this game and it is still my personal favorite sound track for a video game.
2. Chrono Trigger
Chrono Trigger is the definition of a great video game soundtrack, not mention a great RPG. This soundtrack has stuck with me since I was seven and played this on the SNES. This is just one of many great sound tracks made by Square Enix, but this one makes a great game into one of the best. I have to say Chrono Trigger is easily my favorite RPG, be sure to look up this one if you have not played it.
3. Mass Effect Trilogy
This trilogy made by Bioware features a beautiful soundtrack in all the franchises installments to date. The studio managed to put together a great blind of futuristic techno and orchestra music in the franchise to capture the feeling and enhances the epic story that is told in these space based games. I couldn’t just choose one for their sound track so this entire franchise gets a nod.
4. The Final Fantasy Series
The flagship game series for Square Enix has always had solid soundtracks, but there are a couple that have always stood above the others for me. Final Fantasy VII and X are the ones that lead this pack with the best sound tracks, and it is hard for me to choose which one is better. They both elevate their games to another level, but I have to give Final Fantasy VII the nod here, because of the impact it has some of the game’s most memorable scenes.
5. Metal Gear Solid 5: Snake Eater
This game that launched on the PS4 features arguably the best sound track in the franchise. There is nothing bad that can be said about it, at least not by me. I loved every minute that I played this game and listened to its music. The music just complimented the game perfectly and made it one of the best gaming experiences that I have had in recent memory.

These are just my favorite game sound tracks, be sure to let me know what I left out of my list or better yet let me see your top 5!

I think I would have to rank mine as (1) Zelda (It’s obligatory because it’s that good), (2) Mega Man, (3) Final Fantasy (especially FFX), (4) Sin and Punishment, and (5) Donkey Kong Country.
